Parents and carers

 Attendance
The governors have asked the Heads of each school to pass on their concerns regarding the amount of requests to take children out of school during term time. The governors are basing their actions around previous OFSTED concerns about the number of parents taking children out for holidays during term time. Governors are aware that there is much speculation amongst parents about ‘exceptional circumstances’ and would like to share with parents that individual academic ability and the child’s previous attendance record do not weigh in their decision. Exceptional circumstances may include a close family bereavement. The need for parents to take work leave during term time can arise, and may be considered when supported, for example, by factual information from employers. Each case is considered on an individual basis and there is no appeal stage. Governors are committed to impressing on parents and carers the importance of not taking holidays in term time.
